Redmi X not in the making but Snapdragon 855 based smartphone from Xiaomi coming soon

Lu Weibing has conveyed through its official weibo account that the device would not be called as Redmi X.

Last week, we reported that Redmi is gearing up to release its next flagship devicein the coming days. A video teaser was also posted on the company’s official Weibo account showing a mysterious smartphone with notch-less display design along with a pop-up selfie camera and used the word ‘flagship’ to tease this device.

The flagship device was rumoured as Redmi X and few renders were also doing the rounds on the web showing Redmi X as a flagship device. But now putting all the rumours aside, the general manager of Redmi brand, Lu Weibing has conveyed through its official Weibo account that the smartphone would not be called as Redmi X. The post reads “Do not call Redmi X, there will be a better name. Good night.”

There is a bit of confusion that webbed around Redmi flagship device, as recently Lu Weibing had said that the phone wouldn’t have a pop-up selfie camera. But again contradictory to Lu Weibing’s statement, a new teaser video showed a mysterious smartphone with Pop-up selfie camera. If we go by Lu Weibing’s account, then the company might be working on two smartphones, the one device with Puch-hole design and another with a pop-up selfie shooter.

As per earlier rumours and reports, the Redmi’s upcoming flagship device could have Snapdragon 855 along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to sport a triple rear camera set up with a combination of a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP secondary sensor and 13MP third sensor. Furthermore, the device is expected to house an in-display fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm jack. The smartphone is expected to see the light by May 14. However, there is no official information from the company regarding the exact launch date.
