Nokia 3 was launched this year with 7.0 Nougat operating system but was later updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat in September this year. The device was expected to be rolled out with the Android 7.1.2 update by November but it never arrived. Now, it has been confirmed that Nokia 3 will skip Android 7.1.2 Nougat update and it will directly receive Oreo update instead.
In response to user query over the company’s firmware roll-out programme for the device on Twitter, Juho Sarvikas, Chef Product Officer for HMD Global, revealed that Nokia 3 will straight jumpto Android 8.0 Oreo. Sadly, Sarvikas has not revealed any time frame for the update. Recently Nokia 8 has started receiving the Oreo update while the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are expected to receive the Android 8.0 update before the end of the year. The Oreo update will first release for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphone and then it will be available on the Nokia 3 smartphone. It is also important to note that Nokia 8, 5, 6 and 3 smartphones are confirmed to get the next Android P update, as well.
Thanks! We will transition straight to Oreo
