The Nokia 3 was launched this year with 7.0 Nougat operating system, but Nokia promised an update to the newer Android 7.1.1 by the end of August. Now, Nokia 3 from HMD Global has finally reportedly received the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.
Earlier, it was reported that Nokia 3 will get Android 7.1.1 Nougat update by August end, as per a post of HMD’s chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas on his official twitter handle. The update was said to be rolled out in phases across the global markets. But August passed, we saw no update for the device.
Now in September, as per a report of AndroidPolice, the Nokia 3 has received the update. The update is around 750MB in size and is being rolled out over-the-air. The Nokia 3 Android 7.1.1 Nougat update bring user interface enhancements and improved system stability.
Do keep in mind that before you go for the downloading and installing the update, check the battery and storage of your smartphone. It should have at least 50 percent of charge and 2GB of free space is available. Since the update is being rolled out via over-the-air (OTA), it may take some time before it comes to your device. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update.
Android 7.1.1 update brings a new feature called ‘app shortcuts’ through which the users can easily access their favourite apps by simply long pressing the App icon. Users can also send GIFs directly from their keyboard on supported apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts.
Nokia 3 is priced at Rs 9,499 in India and was earlier available through offline channels only. Later it was listed online on Croma (an electric store) as well after offline bookings. As far as specifications are concerned, Nokia 3 comes with 5-inch HD 2.5 D curved displays with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. We get 1.3 GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MTK 6737 Chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Nokia 3 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and packs in a 2650 mAh battery inside.
For the optics, we get a combination of 8-megapixel cameras on both front and back with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron Pixel size along with LED flash at the back and display flash at the front. For connectivity, we have Micro USB (USB 2.0), USB OTG, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC for sharing. Apart from this, we get Accelerometer (G-sensor), ambient light sensor, e-compass, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. The device measures at 143.4 x 71.4 x 8.48 mm.
