After much anticipation and hype, Xiaomi has finally announced the name of its latest Redmi flagship smartphone. The Xiaomi’s Group Vice President, Lu Weibing, announced through its Weibo account that the much-hyped flagship phone will be called as Redmi K20. However, the company has not revealed any details regarding the launch date.
Xiaomi’s VP reveals that the ‘K’ here stands for Killer. He adds that going forward all the flagship smartphones from Redmi will fall under the K-series. Yesterday, Lu Weibing, posted four names– Redmi X20, Redmi P20, Redmi K20, and Redmi T20 on its official Weibo account and had asked all the netizens to choose one of the names for upcoming Redmi Snapdragon 855 flagship.
A few days back, three images with naming Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi P20 Pro and Redmi X20 Pro were leaked online that showcased few specifications of Redmi flagship device. Sadly, all three images had the same specifications and their authenticity couldn’t be verified.
As per earlier leaks, reports and teasers, the Redmi K20 would come with 6.39-inch Full AMOLED Display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SOC alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone might house three rear cameras with 48MP Sony’s IMX586 super Wide-Angle primary sensor, an 8MP secondary sensor and 16MP telephoto sensor.
On the front, it said to sport 20-megapixel Pop-up selfie AI camera. The phone would be backed up by a 4000mAh battery with 27W fast charging. The upcoming K20 device will be optimised for gaming and would also be getting Android Q beta when it will officially be unveiled. Further, the smartphone will have an in-display fingerprint sensor and will retain 3.5mm Audio Jack with supports of NFC as well.
As per a few reports, the company might launch two smartphones, Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. One would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, while Redmi K20 will come equipped with Snapdragon 730 SoC. Furthermore, the company might launch the upcoming Redmi phone with Snapdragon 855 in India and other markets as Poco F2.
