Luxury automotive manufacturer, Maserati has launched its Levante SUV in India. Last year in October, the brand had showcased the car at the DLF Emporio Mall in New Delhi. At a starting price of Rs 1.45 Crore (ex-showroom), the Levante will be available in three variants – Diesel, GranSport and GranLusso. The SUV, which takes its name for the term used for wind in Corsica, follows the tradition of naming cars after the wind at Maserati. Previous marquees from their stable starting in1963, have been the Maserati Mistral, Ghibli, the Bora and the Khamsin.
The Levante is powered by the 3.0-liter, V6 diesel engine that offers 271 BHP of power at 4,000 RPM, with maximum torque of 600 Nm (Newton Metre) at 2,000-2,600 RPM. It has 8-speed automatic gearbox, air suspension and electronically controlled dampers, which can be adjusted depending on the terrain.
It comes with five different reading modes along with the all-wheel-drive system (19-inch wheel) and air springs suspension setupwith the ground clearance of 207mm, allowing the SUV to go off-road with no worries.It claims acceleration from 0-100 kmph in 6.9 seconds with a maximum top speed of 230 kmph.
All the variants come with an electronic power steering with Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, which includes Highway Assist (HA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).
Coupled with standard features, the Levante GranLusso which is priced at Rs 1.53 Crore (ex-showroom) comes with front bumper with Chrome inserts, black-painted brake callipers, Ermenegildo Zegna silk interiors, body-coloured side skirts and steel illuminated door sills. While the Rs 1.48 Crore (ex-showroom) GranSport has red-painted brake callipers, sports cup-seats, rear spoiler, steel door sills and sports steering wheel with shift paddles.
In India, the SUV is likely to go up against players like thePorsche Cayenne or Range Rover Sport from JLR.
