Xiaomi Mi 7 to Support 7.5-Watt Wireless Charging: Report

Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone Mi 7 will adopt a 7.5W fast wireless charging support. Currently, this 7.5W wireless charging is the same as used in iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus flagship smartphones.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 smartphone has been subjected to numerous leaks and rumours in the past. The brand has already confirmed that its next flagship device will be sporting Qi wireless charging. And now, as per a report from China is to be believed, Xiaomi Mi 7 may arrive with fast wireless charging of 7.5W level.

A Chinese website via microblogging website, Weibo has revealed that Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone Mi 7 will adopt a 7.5W fast wireless charging support. Currently, this 7.5W wireless charging is the same as used in iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus flagship smartphones. The 7.5W wireless charging speed is half the speed of the latest Qi 1.2 standards. A Weibo post by industry insider Mocha RQ has also revealed that the company might launch the Mi 7 in June.

Recently, a YouTube channel – Science and Knowledge leaked renders of the Xiaomi Mi 7 smartphone. The channel posted the video which shows full-view display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Furthermore, the renders also show dual rear camera setup in the device. The video also throws light on the specifications of Mi 7 which includes a 5.6-inch display with 1440 x 2880 pixel resolution, Snapdragon 845 SoC with Adreno 630 GPU, 8.0 Oreo running MIUI 9, 64GB/128GB of internal capacity, 6GB/8GB RAM, non-removable 4480mAh battery with quick charge, 16-megapixel dual rear camera with dual tone LED flash and 13-megapixel front camera. The video has also revealed the expected pricing of Mi 7 which is $465 in the US and Rs 29,800 in India.

Meanwhile, the upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi is turning out to be a promising device. The phone is alreadyreported to ditch the fingerprint reader to feature an on-screen fingerprintsensor. Thedevice is also reported to come loaded with some AI features as well. The AI-assisted Snapdragon 845 will power the dual rear cameras of Mi 7 for photography just like Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro that are powered by AI-assisted Kirin 970 chipset.
