If the latest round of leaks are to be believed, the most talked about Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphone will be launched initially with a Snapdragon 821 SoC. Various rumours had till now hinted towards the Xiaomi Mi 6 to be launching on April 16. The smartphone will now launch in May this year instead of the earlier scheduled April launch.
As per a report of AndroidPure, Xiaomi Mi 6 will not be featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. Instead, the smartphone will come with Snapdragon 821 SoC. Moreover, the report says that the Mi 6 another variant might be coming up Snapdragon 835 SoC at a later date. However, Xiaomi has not officially revealed anything. The smartphone was initially reported to feature Snapdragon 835 SoC which was supposed to launch in April.
The reason for the delay seems to be the Snapdragon 835 availability issue. Samsung will be launching Galaxy S8 along with Galaxy S8 Plus on March 29 with Snapdragon 835. The stock of Snapdragon 835 SoC has been allotted to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Some manufacturers were forced to use the Snapdragon 821 in their newest flagship devices instead of the Snapdragon 835 due to its unavailability. Hence Xiaomi has to wait to have sufficient stock of Chipset for its upcoming Mi 6. LG G6 was one of the flagship models that was affected by Samsung’s decision and that’s the reason it’s now available with last year’s Snapdragon 821 SoC.
As per earlier reports, Xiaomi Mi 6 will come with a flat variant with 5.2 inches full HD LCD display instead of an OLED display with dual-curved edges. Moreover, Xiaomi Mi 6 will arrive in three different variants with different chipsets. The first variant will be equipped with Helio X30 SoC and the second variant will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The third variant will also come with the same Qualcomm’s chipset.
The Snapdragon 835 variant of the Mi 6 is rumoured to arrive in two variants – 6GB RAM with 256GB internal storage, and 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. Both the variants are said to feature OLED panels with 2K resolution. The other variant of Mi 6 which is said to use the MediaTek Helio X30 processor is rumoured to come only in one option which includes 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Mi 6 will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
The pricing of Mi 6 has also leaked before. There will be three variants – 4GB RAM with 32GB internal memory, 4GB with 64GB Internal Memory and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal memory. Price will be in the range of 1999 Yuan (which is approximately Rs 19,362) to 2500 Yuan (which is approximately Rs 24,221) for all the variants. The 6GB RAM variant will come with a ceramic body.
