Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 6 has been in news and leaks for quite a period of time now. The smartphone was earlier expected to be launched on April 16 this year. But now, as per new reports, Xiaomi Mi 6 launch has been delayed until May 2017.
The latest rumour has surfaced in China which has revealed that Xiaomi might be postponing the official launch of Mi 6. The launch of the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will now take place in May 2017 instead of April 16 however, the exact launch date has not been revealed in the leak.
The reason for the delay seems to be the Snapdragon 835 availability issue. Samsung will be launching Galaxy S8 along with Galaxy S8 Plus on March 29 with Snapdragon 835. The stock of Snapdragon 835 SoC has been allotted to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Some manufacturers were forced to use the Snapdragon 821 in their newest flagship devices instead of the Snapdragon 835 due to its unavailability. Hence Xiaomi has to wait to have sufficient stock of Chipset for its upcoming Mi 6.
Recently, we reported that Xiaomi will be unveiling a Ceramic Edition of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6. The phone’s camera information also surfaced recently which revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 6 might sport Sony’s IMX400 camera sensor on the back, though the higher-end Mi 6 model might ship with a dual camera setup on the back. Previously, the Mi6 was rumoured to feature the IMX386 camera sensor.
As per earlier reports, Xiaomi Mi 6 will come with a flat variant with 5.2 inches full HD LCD display instead of an OLED display with dual-curved edges. Moreover, Xiaomi Mi 6 will arrive in three different variants with different chipsets. The first variant will be equipped with Helio X30 SoC and the second variant will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The third variant will also come with the same Qualcomm’s chipset.
The Snapdragon 835 variant of the Mi 6 is rumoured to arrive in two variants – 6GB RAM with 256GB internal storage, and 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. Both the variants are said to feature OLED panels with 2K resolution. The other variant of Mi 6 which is said to use the MediaTek Helio X30 processor is rumoured to come only in one option which includes 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Mi 6 will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
The pricing of Mi 6 has also leaked before. There will be three variants – 4GB RAM with 32GB internal memory, 4GB with 64GB Internal Memory and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal memory. Price will be in the range of 1999 Yuan (which is approximately Rs 19,362) to 2500 Yuan (which is approximately Rs 24,221) for all the variants. The 6GB RAM variant will come with a ceramic body.
