A week after seeding the Realme 2 Pro with a new update, Realme has now announced that it is rolling out an update to its oldest Realme 1 smartphone which will shift the firmware to ColorOS 5.2. The ColorOS 5.2 update comes a month after Realme CEO Madhav Sheth revealed that the Realme 1 will get Oppo’s ColorOS 5.2 featuring a Smart Assistant that helps in object recognition, App prediction and smart driving.
ColorOS 5.2 brings with it a slew of additions to the Realme 1 and Google’s October 2018 Android security updates. Among the added features, the update includes one swipe dismiss for notifications, a headset icon in the status bar, new desktop icons and a smart bar for seamless multitasking. There’s a new Game Space mode which Realme says is their version of game modes which optimises the phone’s performance and activates DND mode.
The update solves the random flashing of the Status bar when developer options and accessibility are activated. In addition to the new features, ColorOS 5.2 also adds a new boot animation, revised lock screen interface and a Smart Scan feature to translate texts from pictures. Google Assistant is now just a fingertip away as it will pop up by long-pressing the power button for 0.5 seconds.
The update will be rolled out to all Realme 1 devices in a phased manner as Realme plans to seed all the units with the update by December 3. For interested users, Realme is offering registrations by allowing the users to enter their IMEI, soo after which the update will be pushed to the particular device.
Realme 1 is also expected to receive an update to Android 9 Pie in the future after company support line confirmed the same to the Realme 1 and realme 2 earlier this month.
