After recently rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for Honor 8 Pro, Huawei is now looking for beta testers for the Android 8.0 Oreo software update on P10 and P10 Plus smartphones. Huawei launched P10 and P10 Plus with Android Nougat 7.0 based EMUI 5.1 in February last year.
Being a beta program, the software is not yet fully optimized for the device and users may experience some bugs till a stable version is released. The beta update will not have support for full features for the device.
To sign for the beta testing, you have to download the application from the Play Store. Huawei has explained the procedure briefly on their official consumer website here. As per the announcement made by the company, P10/P10 Plus units with the following software versions are eligible for the beta program: Vtr-l09c432b180, Vtr-l29c432b180, Vky-l09c432b181, and Vky-l29c432b181.
Huwaei has not revealed anything about the exact release date of the stable version of the update but it is expected that the company might release a stable update of Android Oreo in February.
Huawei P10 comes with a 5.1-inch Full HD 1080p LCD display while the P10 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD 2560×1440 LCD display which is slightly curved on the sides. Both these displays are protected by 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The P10 comes with 3200 mAh battery inside whereas the P10 Plus packs in a 3750 mAh battery. Both the smartphones come with Huawei’s fast charge technology which company claims can give you full day’s battery in just 30 minutes.
Both the devices come with a Leica 2.0 dual-camera set up at the back with a 20-megapixel Monochrome Lens and a 12-megapixel regular lens with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, Pro Mode, Hybrid Zoom etc. There is no camera hump at the back and the dual-camera setup comes with Leica’s latest Summilux H lens inside. Further, this camera setup at the back comes with Leica style portraiture mode which enables 3D Facial Detection, Dynamic illumination for portrait mode (similar to beauty mode), Natural Bokeh effect etc. The 20-megapixel monochrome sensor at the back lets you click monochrome photos with multi-level bokeh effect. The rear camera setup can record video in 4K with H.265 codec which compresses the total size of the video shot to up to 50 percent. At the front, we get a Leica-branded 8-megapixel selfie camera as well with Adaptive Selfie technology.
