MWC 2017: Huawei P10 and P10 Plus launched with Leica branded Dual Camera setup, EMUI 5.1 and Kirin 960 SoC

The Chinese handset manufacturer launched both the smartphones today in Barcelona, Spain at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2017

Mobile World Congress 2017 is live as smartphone manufacturers from around the world take the stage showcase their upcoming products. After LG launched its LG G6 earlier today, Huawei has finally launched its next flagship smartphones, the P10 and P10 Plus today in Barcelona, Spain.

The P10 comes with a hyper diamond cut design at the back to provide an extra amount of grip and prevent fingerprints. Both the smartphones come with either a high glossy Ceramic Finish or a matte surface Sandblast Finish and come in two new colour variants, Dazzling Blue, Greenery colour along withGraphite Black, Rose Gold, Mystic Silver, Dazzling Gold.

Huawei P10 comes with a 5.1-inch Full 1080p LCD display while the P10 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD2560x1440 LCD display which is slightly curved on the sides. Both these displays is protected by 2.5D curved 5. The P10 comes with 3200 battery inside whereas the P10 Plus packs in a 3750 mAh battery. Both the smartphones come with Huawei’s fast charge technology which company claims can give you full day’s battery in just 30 minutes.

Both the devices come with a Leica 2.0 dual-camera set up at the back with a 20-megapixel Lens and a 12-megapixel regular lens with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, Pro Mode, Hybrid Zoom etc. There is no camera hump at the back and the dual-camera setup comes with Leica’s latestSummilux H lens inside. Further, this camera setup at the back comes withLeica style portraiture mode which enables 3D Facial Detection, Dynamic illumination for portrait mode (similar to beauty mode), Natural Bokeh effect etc. The 20-megapixel monochrome sensor at the back lets you click monochrome photos with multi-level bokeh effect. The rear camera setup can record video in with codec which compresses the total size of the video shot to up to 50 percent. At the front, we get a Leica-branded 8-megapixel selfie camera as well with Adaptive Selfie technology.

On the inside, we get Huawei’s own 2.35 GHz Octa-Core Kirin 960 andMali-G71MP8 GPU for graphics. The P10 comes with 4GB of RAM while the P10 Plus comes in 4GB or 6GB RAM options. Not only this, Huawei has included in a new ‘Ultra Memory’ technology which uses less memory for faster performance. We get 64GB of internal storage (128GB option on P10 Plus) which can be further expandable via microSD card which sits in a hybrid-Dual SIM (Nano + Nano). Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are world’s first 4.5 LTE enabled smartphones and also comes, Huawei Geo Technology for improved performance and WiFi 2×2 MIMO technology for faster download speeds. Other connectivity features include Both the devices come with an under-glass fingerprint sensor at the front with smart touch and can perform three functions with a shot tap, long tap and swipe.

Both the smartphones come with 7.1 Nougat with the latest EMUI 5.1 on board which now offers features like Knuckle gestures, One Step Actions and a tonne of other features for Photos, Calendarby advanced machine learning built into the skin.

For the pricing and availability, the Huawei P10 will be available for purchase in Europe and China from March 2017 at€649 (approx. 45,000) for P10, €699 (approx. Rs 49,000) for P10 Plus (64GB + 4GB), €799 (approx. Rs 52,000) for P10 Plus (128G + 6GB RAM). We expect Huawei to launch the device in India soon.
