After rolling out an update to Indian users of the Mate 20 Pro, Huawei is now releasing a global stable update of the EMUI 9 based on Android 9.0 Pie for its own set of devices as well as some select smartphones under the Honor branding. The EMUI 9.0 is Huawei’s custom Android P-based operating system, developed to improved performance and enhance user experience to customers.
The latest update shifts the firmware of the devices to EMUI 9.0 and is based on Google’s latest Android 9 Pie, thus bringing new features from Huawei as well as Google in the process. The list of devices currently getting the EMUI 9 update includes the Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, Honor 10 and Honor View 10.
With EMUI 9.0, Huawei is offering a simplified design inspired by nature, thus bringing natural experience with ambient natural sounds when using ringtone and alarm alerts. The design applies scenes of nature in everything from colour selections to default caller portraits.
It’s time to experience #EMUI 9.0 on your favorite #HUAWEI device. If you own one of these devices, EMUI 9.0 will be with you very soon! Stay tuned.#HigherIntelligence #HUAWEIMate10 #HUAWEIMate10Pro #HUAWEIP20#HUAWEIP20Pro #HonorPlay #HonorView10 #Honor10 pic.twitter.com/UOeFVd8UPU

In addition to that, the new EMUI 9.0 update supports a brand new mode of navigation – gestures. Users can now intuitively control their device with simple swipes instead of clicking on buttons, thus combining the goodies from Google’s Android Pie and Huawei EMUI 9.
The update also relays support for newer technologies like HiVision and HiTouch. With HiVision, users can easily query the Internet for more information about objects of interest by simply pointing the camera towards it. HiVision recognises landmarks from 15 countries as well as over 10 million famous artworks and also detects food items and calorie estimates for the users. HiTouch lets users easily query online retailers and eCommerce platforms and shop for them by pressing and holding two fingers on an image.
The EMUI 9 update also upgrades Huawei’s Easy Projection feature on the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro with wireless connectivity. Users will now have access to One-Click Projection and Highlight and Capture on the big screen. Furthermore, EMUI 9 now also supports HUAWEI Share to transfer files to PC, Backup and WPS with HiAI to enhance the enterprise experience.
EMUI 9 will come to the Honor Play, Honor 10, Honor View 10, Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro in the coming weeks and since it’s a global release, the same will come to users in India too in the near future.
