Huawei Mate 20 Pro update adds an AI Zoom mode, new camera effects

The latest update is labelled as EMUI 9.0.0.126 and shifts the firmware on the Mate 20 Pro to version C675E12R1P17. Weighing in at 367MB, the update primarily adds an AI Zoom feature which is expected to improve the quality of mini video recordings when shooting through the primary camera.

Huawei seeded an update to improve biometric unlocking and camera quality on the Mate 20 Pro and a week past that, the Chinese manufacturer is bringing a new feature to its flagship device through another firmware update. Unlike the previous package, the latest update is currently being seeded to users only in India and will focus on enhancing the camera capabilities of the Mate 20 Pro.

The latest update is labelled as EMUI 9.0.0.126 and shifts the firmware on the Mate 20 Pro to version C675E12R1P17. Weighing in at 367MB, the update primarily adds an AI Zoom feature which is expected to improve the quality of mini video recordings when shooting through the primary camera. Huawei has also added some new effects and filters inside the camera app.

Prior to this, Huawei had rolled out the November 2018 security updates to the Mate 20 Pro through the EMUI 9.0.0.142 update. The update also packs faster facial unlocking through the 3D biometric sensor on the front and better pictures from the triple-lens camera system.

The Mate 20 Pro was released in India last month for an asking price of Rs 69,990 and started being available in the country in early December. The device features a 6.39-inch Quad curved display with a screen resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, DCI-P3 HDR and 820 nits brightness. The phone is powered by the latest Kirin 980 chipset, which is based on the 7nm process along with Mali-G76 MP10 GPU, 6GB of and 128GB of internal storage.

The major highlight of Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the triple-camera setup at the back. The primary sensor comes with a 40-megapixel lens with a f/1.8 along with 20-megapixel ultra-wide angle with f/2.2 aperture and an 8-megapixel 3X telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. For the front, there is a 24-megapixel RGB selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and support for 3D facial unlocking.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro runs EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. It is fueled by a 4200mAh battery with support for 40W SuperCharge technology and 15W fast wireless charging technology. It also supports wireless reverse charging for charging other Qi wireless devices.
