Xiaomi seems to launch Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 Pro smartphones in India on September 5. Xiaomi Vice president and Managing Director Manu Jain has today teased the launch of new smartphones in India soon. All the devices have earlier been launched in China in June this year.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has now also sent media invites to announce its new products launch in India on September 5. The official invite states that the company is hosting an event in New Delhi on the said date.
On his official twitter handle, Manu Kumar Jain has tweeted a teaser that reveals ‘Desh ke Naye Smartphones’ are ‘coming very soon’. Although he didn’t specify an exact date, but they are expected to launch on September 5. To recall, the company first used the ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ campaign to tease the launch of the Redmi 5A in India last year.

The 9 seconds video teaser shows a large number 6 with the sketch of three devices behind it. The teaser hints that the company is planning to launch three smartphones in India under 6 series which could be Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and the Redmi 6 Pro. This in inline with a previous report which claimed that all the three smartphones will be launched in India soon.
Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A were launched in China earlier. The Redmi 6A is priced at 699 yuan (approx. Rs 6,300), while the Redmi 6 comes in two variants of 32GB and 64GB priced at 799 yuan (approx. Rs 8,400) and 999 yuan (approx. Rs 10,520) respectively. BothRedmi 6A and Redmi 6 sport a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS display with 720 x 1440 pixel resolution and an 18:9 elongated front screen. They run on Android 8.1 Oreo and fueled by a 3000mAh battery.
The Redmi 6 is powered by an octa-core 2GHz Helio P22 Processor which is coupled with either 3GB+32GB or 4GB+64GB storage variants. Both the models have support for a microSD card. For the optics, the Redmi 6 is equipped with dual rear cameras with a combination of 12MP + 5MP with AI functionality and a 5-megapixel front camera.
The Redmi 6A, on the other hand, features a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro was also launched in June in China this year. It is priced at 999 yuan, 1,199 yuan and 1,299 yuan for the 3GB/32GB, 4GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB versions respectively.
The device features a 5.84-inch Full HD+ 19:9 display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and a notch at the front. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.
The device is fuelled by a massive 4,000mAh battery and it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Xiaomi’s older MIUI 9 on top. The Redmi 6 Pro features a dual camera setup with 12MP primary sensor with pixel size of 1.25um, f/2.2 aperture, phase detection Autofocus and a 5MP secondary sensor of an Aperture of f/2.2. For the front, it has a 5MP camera.
