Xiaomi Redmi 8A eases through TENAA with 12MP camera, 5,000mAh battery

The Redmi 8A has now been passed through Chinese certification TENAA with the model number M1908C3KE.

Xiaomi is hosting an event in India on September 17, possibly for the launch of a new Mi Smart LED TV lineup. While the Redmi Note 8 series has already launched in China and is less than two months away from launching in India, it might still be a while till we see the Redmi 8 series getting official. Some information of one of the devices in the series – the Redmi 8A has now been shared online.

The Redmi 8A has now been passed through Chinese certification TENAA with the model number M1908C3KE. We can thus presume that the model number M1908C3IC which was certified last month was the regular Redmi 8 device. The successor to the Redmi 7A is expected to feature a 6.2-inch Dot notch display with a of 1520 × 720 pixels. There will be a Redmi branding on the bottom of the front side as well as at the top of the rear panel. The pictures also show a ‘Designed by Xiaomi’ label at the bottom half of the backside.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 8A will be powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-core and will be available in 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB configurations. The device will also support expandable storage of up to 512GB through a card. The Redmi 8A will run on 9 Pie with MIUI on top and is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery.

The device will be loaded with a single 12-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies. The TENAA listing says there are a total of three cameras on the phone, which hints that the Redmi 8A could feature an sensor.

The Redmi 8A weighs in at 188 grams and measures 156.3×75.4×9.4 mm. The device will come with VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, and FM Radio for connectivity. It will be available in grey, purple, green, pink, blue, red, white and black colours.
