Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A gets MIUI 10 stable update

Users can go to Settings > About Phone > System Update in order to check for the latest update.

Xiaomi has started rolling out a new version of its MIUI to its budget-centric smartphones, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A. The company has started seeding both the phones with MIUI 10 stable version, though both of them are still missing Pie.

The new update comes with a version number MIUI V10.3.20.OCGMIXM for both the models. The update carries a weight 279MB for Redmi 6 and 289MB for Redmi 6A. The update also brings April security patch to both the smartphones. With this, users can enjoy the new features of the MIUI 10 Stable with the new update. In order to check for it, users can go to Settings > About Phone > System Update and check for the latest update.

Interestingly, the MIUI 10 update does not bring Android Pie to both the devices. This is because the company has dropped plans to give the latest update to both the smartphones along with Redmi Y2. As per an announcement made on MIUI China Forum, the company has revealed that it will not roll out MIUI update featuring Android Pie to the above-mentioned smartphones. However, it is not known at the moment whether the same thing will be done with the global variants of the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi Y2.

Meanwhile, the company older Redmi 4 recently got MIUI 10.3 stable update. The update weighs in at 477MB and shifts the build number of the software to MIUI 10.3.1.0.NAMMIXM, though it only ships with the older October 2018 Android security update. The update adds a new SOS mode inside the status bar, allows users to avoid notification shade access in the lock screen and changes the way battery percentage is displayed on the status bar.
