It seems that Xiaomi has dropped the plans for rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update to its three smartphones. The company is not planning to roll out Pie update to Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi Y2 devices.
As per an announcement made on MIUI China Forum, the company has revealed that it will not roll out MIUI update featuring Android Pie to the above-mentioned smartphones. However, it is not known at the moment whether the same thing will be done with the global variants of the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi Y2.
It is quite surprising that the company is changing the plans for Pie roll out of the three devices. Xiaomi rolled out the MIUI 10 update to the Redmi Y2 and it was, in fact, the first device to get the update. The sad thing here is that the Redmi 6 Pro, which comes loaded with an almost similar set of specifications recently got the Android 9.0 Pie update and there is no word whether the Redmi Y2 will get the update or not.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has scheduled an event on April 24, where it will unveil the successor of Redmi Y2. The invite reveals that the smartphone will be launched on the said in Delhi and the event will kickstart from 11:30 AM onwards. The invite also hints that the upcoming smartphone will be equipped with a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.
The smartphone will be exclusively available on Amazon. The e-commerce giant has made live a landing page, which gives some hints of the upcoming phone. The listing reveals that the phone will be equipped with a glass design and it will feature dewdrop notch. The smartphone will feature two-day long-lasting battery and it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
