A little under a month after rolling out Android Pie beta based MIUI 10 update to the Poco F1, Xiaomi is pushing another update to the Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone. The update is available for volunteers under the MIUI beta testing program and is labelled as MIUI 10 8.12.6 which will be available globally.
The MIUI 10 8.12.6 beta update to the Poco F1 brings with its a slew of changes, the biggest of which revolves around camera enhancements. With the latest update, the Poco F1 will now be able to shoot slow-motion videos at 960fps, thus making it the cheapest smartphone to come with the feature.
Additionally, the camera also gets a Super low-light mode which we can expect to be Xiaomi’s version of Google’s Night Sight mode for capturing high-quality pictures in dimly lit conditions. Xiaomi appears to be stitching as much as 8 images at different exposures to improve the overall quality of photos clicked under low light.
Furthermore, Xiaomi has fixed the screen flickering that was present when unlocking the phone as well as a translation issue in the recent menu. The update also optimises the App section of Settings which gets a new redesign. Other additions include a customisable module with resizable images.
To recall, the Poco F1 features a 6.18-inch Full HD+ notch display with 2246 x 1080 pixel resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at up to 2.8 GHz powers the device with Adreno 630 GPU backed by LiquidCool technology for heat dissipation.
There is a dual rear camera setup with a combination of 12-megapixel primary Sony IMX363 sensor with dual pixel autofocus, with dual LED Flash, 1.4μm pixel size and a 5-megapixel secondary Samsung sensor. It has a 20-megapixel selfie camera along with support for IR face unlock feature. The device is backed up by 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
