Xiaomi Mi 7 to feature 3D facial recognition:Report

The upcoming Mi 7 will come with Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor, Snapdragon 845 which will be coupled with 6GB of RAM.

If a recent report about Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship Mi 7 smartphone is to be believed, the device will be featuring 3D facial recognition and it might ditch the fingerprint reader. A Chinese website, NewsDriver has leaked this piece information for the Xiaomi Mi 7.

However, no details about the Xiaomi’s 3D facial recognition technology have been revealed as of now but it is expected to use sophisticated hardware similar to on the iPhone X.

Recent reports suggest that Xiaomi is partnering with Qualcomm, Himax Technologies and Truly Opto-Electronics to develop advanced 3D facial recognition solution, which is expected to enter mass production in the first quarter of 2018. After making its debut on the Xiaomi Mi 7, the 3D facial recognition technology is said to be implemented on other devices which are planned to be released next year by the company.

Xiaomi has already revealed that the upcoming Mi 7 will come with Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor, Snapdragon 845 which will be coupled with 6GB of RAM. The Mi 7 also will be packed with a 3950mAh battery and support dual-standby.

As per earlier rumours, Xiaomi Mi 7 will be featuring wireless charging. The phone will feature a 5.8 inches full-screen display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is expected that the device feature with a of 2560×1440 pixels with the Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

For the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is said to feature dual rear cameras with a combination of 19MP + 19MP sensor with an of f1.7 and 4x optical zoom. For the front, there will be a 16-megapixel sensor. The smartphone is also rumoured to support fast charging. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is said to come in two variants – 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage. Xiaomi Mi 7 is also said to feature AI support as per a recent report which revealed that AI-assisted Snapdragon 845 will power the dual rear cameras of Mi 7 for photography just like Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro that are powered by AI-assisted Kirin 970 chipset.

Along with Xioami Mi 7, the company is also expected to announce the Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus. The Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus is said to feature a bigger 6.01 inches full-screen display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be having 3,500 battery. Like Mi 7, Mi 7 Plus is also rumoured to support wireless charging, feature dual camera setup and powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6 GB of RAM.

As far as the leaked pricing is concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to cost around 2,699 Yuan for the base 6GB variant which is approximately Rs 26,400. While on the other hand, Mi 7 Plus is said to be priced at 2,999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 29,369.
