The upcoming Galaxy Tab A (2019) showed up on Geekbench yesterday but Samsung has other plans for its Indian market as it has announced the launch of the Galaxy Tab Active 2 in the country. The mid-range tablet comes with S-Pen support, a fingerprint scanner and IP68 certification and will be available in India for an asking price of Rs 50,990.
The Galaxy Tab Active 2 features an 8-inch WXGA TFT display with a Resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The device comes with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and a MIL-STD-810G protection to withstand accidental drops, shocks and vibrations.
The tablet device is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7870 Processor which is clocked at 1.8GHz and is paired with a Mali T830 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Tab Active 2 runs on the older Android 7.1 Nougat and additionally features support for Samsung’s S Pen input which offers 4096 Pressure Levels and an Air command feature. It comes with the company’s Knox security platform which is said to protect its users from hackers and malware.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy Tab Active 2 comes with an 8MP rear camera with an LED flash and autofocus. There’s a 5MP camera on the front for selfies and video conferencing. The tablet is fuelled by a 4,450mAh battery which can easily be replaced by the user upon full discharge. The device comes with a Pogo PIN connector for connecting or charging a group of devices all at once or connect accessories like a keyboard and mouse to the tablet.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz+5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE, NFC,USB 2.0 Type C and GPS / GLONASS. The tablet weighs in at 419 grams and measures at 127.6 x 214.7 x 9.9mm.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 will be available in India in Black colour for an asking price of Rs 50,990 from March 2019.
