Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Android 8.0 Oreo update begins rolling out

The latest update not only brings the Oreo to the table, but it also adds March security patch.

Samsung recently rolled out the Android Oreo update for its last year’s flagship devices, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Now, it seems that the brand is rolling out Oreo update for its latest Galaxy Note 8 smartphone.

According to a report by Sammobile, Samsung has started rolling out the latest update in France. The latest update not only brings the Oreo to the table, but it also adds March security patch. Apart from this, the changelog seems to the same as we have seen in the Galaxy S8. The brand will gradually roll out the Oreo update in other regions as well. Users in France can check for the latest update by going to Settings> Software update menu. With this, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be updated to Experience UI 9.0 from 8.5 version. It is interesting to note that back in January, a Reddit user revealed that its Galaxy Note 8 unit has received the latest update.

After the Oreo update, the smartphone will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.Further, a recent listing onGüncelmiyiz, which is a website owned and operated by Samsung Turkey reveals that the company is planning to update Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge with the latest update.

To recall, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was launched in India for Rs 67,990. The major highlight of the smartphone is the dual rear cameras. This is the first Samsung device to come equipped with a dual-camera setup. The phone sports a combination of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and 12-megapixel telephoto lens, with both sporting optical image stabilization (OIS). The wide-angle lens comes with f/1.7, 1.4-micron pixel size, 77-degree field of view.

The telephoto lens comes loaded with aperture f/2.4, 2x optical zoom, up to 10x digital zoom. The camera is equipped with different modes including Live focus, food mode, pro mode, panorama and slow motion. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter with autofocus, f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens.
