Reliance Jio Summer Surprise Offer to be discontinued from Midnight

All customers who have subscribed to JIO SUMMER SURPRISE offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer

It is expected that Reliance Jio may withdraw Summer Surprise offer from today midnight. Yesterday, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had directed the company to withdraw the 3 months complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise which it had announced on March 31, 216 with immediate effects but Jio sought some time to implement it.

Sources familiar with the development have said to The Mobile Indian, “TRAI had directed Jio to withdraw the Summer Surprise Offer by the end of the day today but the company has sought time to implement the directive and is still in discussion with TRAI to explain their side of the story behind the offer.” Sources further revealed, ” Reliance Jio has put a hold on all the campaigns promoting Summer Surprise Offer and in all likely hood will discontinue the offer today midnight.”

Yesterday, After getting the TRAI directive, Jio’s spokesperson had said in a statement, “Jio accepts this decision. Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the 3 months complimentary benefits of JIO SUMMER SURPRISE as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days.”

Regarding the fate of customers who have availed the offer Jio Summer Surprise offer statement said, ” All customers who have subscribed to JIO SUMMER SURPRISE offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer.”

What is Jio Summer Surprise Offer?

Reliance Jio had commercially launched its service in September 2016 with a promotional offer, Jio Welcome offer, which provided free internet and calls but it January it extended the promotional offer by three more months and renamed the offer as Jio Happy New Yearoffer, which was supposed to end on 31st march.

As the 31st March deadline approached, Jio came with another surprise and launched Jio Summer Surprise offer bringing another three months of free services for customers but there was a catch.

To avail the offer Jio Subscribers had to become Jio Prime members(with a Rs. 99 recharge), and then buy a recharge of Rs 303 or higher amount, Depending on the recharge value, Jio customers were to receive free data and other services as part of the summer offer. Under the Rs 303 recharge, a one would get free unlimited calls and SMS across all the networks along with 1GB 4G data per day.

Jio Recharge Plans:

The recharge plan introduced by Reliance Jio are Rs 149 plan under which Prime users will get 2GB of data while non-prime users will get 1GB. For Rs 499, Prime users will get 56GB of data while non-prime users will get only 5GB of data with a daily cap of 2GB data on the former.

Other plans include Rs 999 which will offer 60GB (12.5 for non-prime) of 4G data with no daily cap and a validity of 60 days. For Rs 1999 you get 125GB (30GB for non-prime) with a validity of 90 days (30 days for non-prime). For Rs 4999 you get 350 GB (100GB for non-prime) of 4G data with a validity of 180 days (30 days for non-prime). Lastly, for Rs 9999 you get 750GB of 4G data with a validity of 360 days or roughly 1 year. For non-prime members, this offer gives 200GB of 4G data with a validity of 30 days only.

What happens when Jio Summer Surprise offer is cancelled?

A Reliance Jio statement clarifies, “All Jio customers who have subscribed to Jio Summer Surprise offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer.”

This means that Jio customers who have already signed up for Jio Prime membership plan by doing a recharge of Rs 99 and followed it up with a recharge of Rs 303 or higher value will continue to get free services until July. After that, they will get the benefits of the recharge value – exactly as was announced on March 31.

What the statement didn’t say clearly, which our sources clarified was “till the time Reliance Jio doesn’t officially withdraw the Summer Special offer, Jio subscribers to enrol Jio Prime and do a recharge of Rs 303 or more will also get the benefits. So if someone enrols for Prime membership and does a recharge of Rs 303 and above today they will get the benefits.”
