Good news! OnePlus is still releasing updates for its old devices. OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T which had received a Software Maintenance Schedule update last month in addition to Project Treble supportwill not getOxygenOS 5.1.4update as well. It is claimed to deliver better photo quality inside the camera, improved battery life and the latest batch of Android security features.
The latest OxygenOS 5.1.4 update bumps the security levels of the OnePlus 5/5T to July 2018 batch of Android security but the significant change comes in the form of a battery-saving feature. It’s called ‘Sleep Standby Mode’ and to access it one can go toSettings > Battery > Battery optimisations> Advanced optimisations. Upon activating the switch, the OnePlus 5/5T will have the power to shut down network connectivity when the device is in sleep and will thus result in a long battery life which also means you’ll have to make do with the late arrival of notifications.
Additionally, the OxygenOS update also introduces a new Group Messaging feature inside the default Messaging App which would display group MMS messages under a single thread. The forum post also reveals an enhancement in the camera interface allowing room for an “Improved photo clarity” though details are scarce at the moment.
The latest OxygenOS 5.1.4 update weighs in at 1.6GB and will be available on OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T devices in the coming weeks.
