After almost a year of absence, Micromax’s YU sub-brand has teased a new smartphone launch in India set for a release on August 30. The news comes as a tweet from YU Mobile’s Twitter handle which has been inactive for some time now and the new tweet means the company is looking to get back its budget-minded customers after having been off the market since September last year.
While one of the tweets sent from YU read “F(ACE) OFF” with the ace of spades, another tweet displayed two battery-like hourglasses with the same message. The tweet also revealed that the “#YUFaceOff is coming soon on August 30” meaning the phone will be launched this week, just two months after its parent company Micromax launched the Canvas 2 Plus in its budget segment.
The fact that the word “Ace” has been put inside brackets in all of the teasers means, the upcoming device will be named the YU Ace. There has been no additional info on the matter and we’ll possibly get to know more as we close in on the launch date. It’s likely that YU might bring in two new smartphones, one of them focused on a larger battery backup. All that is speculation and we’d suggest you take this with a pinch of salt so you don’t get your hopes up.
In case you missed it, Micromax is still releasing smartphones in the budget segment and launched the Bharat Go Android Go smartphone in partnership with Airtel back in May. Upon its launch, the device was the cheapest Android Go running device, available for a mere Rs 4,399 and was powered by a MediaTek quad-core Chipset with 1GB DDR3 RAM and 8GB of onboard storage.
