Reliance Jio has today announced the launch of a high-end variant of JioPhone feature phone – JioPhone 2. Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance announced JioPhone 2, at the 41st annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai today.
JioPhone 2 booking will start on August 15, 2018, and will be available at introductory price of Rs 2,999. Jio has also announced a new Jio Monsoon offer under which customers can replace their older JioPhone for a new JioPhone 2 for Rs 500. This offer will start from July 21.
Coming to the specifications, the JioPhone 2 features a full QWERTY hardware keyboard with 2.4-inch QVGA display and a screen resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The phone will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The phone is backed by a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, the device comes loaded with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. It is juiced up by a 2000mAh battery, which the company claims to give a Talk time of 12 hours and Standby time of 15 days. On the connectivity front, it supports dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, Micro USB 2.0 and FM radio. The smart feature phone also supports Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp applications. The JioPhone 2 runs on KAI operating system, the same operating system that the original JioPhone was announced with.
The JioPhone comes with a voice assistant, which makes it easier to interact with the feature phone. Through the voice assistant, one can make calls, browse the internet and listen to music and more. It also supports the Hindi language for giving the voice command. The device also comes with a host of JIo apps including Jio Music and more.
