At an event in China, Huami has introduced three new wearables – the Amazfit GTS smartwatch, the Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 and the Amazfit X smart band. The Amazfit GTS and Smart Sports Watch 3 will be available for starting prices of 899 yuan (approx. Rs 91,00) and 1299 yuan (approx. Rs 13,200) respectively while the Amazfit X will be introduced in the first half of 2020.
Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3
The Smart Sports Watch 3, as expected, comes with a 1.34-inch circular low-power transflective display that offers a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and tempered glass protection. The watch is backed by a 300mAh battery that Huami says will last you to up to 7 days on a single charge or up to 14 days in Ultra mode. It weighs in at 59.5 grams (68.7 grams for the Elite edition) and measures 48.6 × 13.4 mm.
The new Amazfit Smart Sports Watch model comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage and runs on Amazfit OS with support for Android 5 / iOS10 or higher. There’s a sports tracking mode which offers tracking support for 19 different sports. The watch comes with a 6-Axis Accelerometer, Air Pressure Sensor, Low-power BioTracker PPG sensor, 3 Axial Geomagnetic Sensor and Ambient Light.
For connectivity, the Amazfit watch offers WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo and NFC. The watch features a 316L stainless steel body (measuring 48.6mm in diameter) with a 22mm sporty silicone strapand offers water resistance to up to 5ATM or 50 metres. There’s an Elite variant which offers sapphire crystal body, titanium bezels and fluoro-rubber strap which will cost1699 yuan (approx. Rs 17,250).
Amazfit GTS
The Amazfit GTS offers a 1.65-inch square AMOLED Display with a resolution of 348 x 442 pixels, 341ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The watch is made of an aluminium alloy body and comes with six colours. It supports Android 5 / iOS10 or higher and is backed up by a 220mAh battery which can last to up to 14 days on default usage, 25 hours on continuous GPS tracking and up to 46 days in basic watch mode.
The Amazfit GTS comes with a 12-Sport Mode tracking alongside sleep and activity tracking. In terms of sensors, the watch features Low-power BioTracker PPG sensor, a barometer, ambient light sensor, a 6-Axis Accelerometer and 3 Axial Geomagnetic Sensor. For connectivity, the Amazfit device features Bluetooth 5.0 LE, NFC, GPS and GLONASS. The watch also comes with 5ATM (50m) water resistance, ideal for swimming and light snorkelling.
Amazfit X
While the Amazfit GTS and Smart Sports Watch 3 are regular smartwatches, the Amazfit X begs to differ. Huami says the Amazfit X is still in its prototype phase with the actual device scheduled to launch in H1 2020. The Amazfit X is expected to come with a 2.07-inch curved AMOLED display with 430 nits brightness and 326ppi pixel density.
The display on the Amazfit X is expected to have a super-arc curvature of 92-degrees which Huami says has been achieved by heating the metal body to up to 700 degree Celsius and a 6-bend bending process. The watch will come with a 220mAh curved lithium battery with a battery life of up to 7 days. Huami will utilise a 3-segment motherboard to adapt the smart band’s curved structure.
