Google announced its Android 9 Pie update for its Pixel and Nexus devices last month and precisely a month later, has now started seeding its own devices with the latest Android security update which adds several patches to the system and bug fixes.
The latest package will be seeded to all Pixel devices as well as the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P through an over-the-air update and Google has also posted factors images for the same. The update adds the September 2018 Android Security update and fixes Battery Charging issues when using the Google-made phones in Retail Mode and also solves the problem revolving around the audio quality when playing through speakers in a car. The update also comes for the Pixel C tablet.
Google’s new September 2018 security will be seeded for the following devices:
Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P (OPM6.171019.030.K1)
Pixel C (OPM4.171019.021.Z1)
Pixel, Pixel XL (version PPR1.180905.003/PPR2.180905.006/PPR2.180905.006.A1)
Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL (PPR2.180905.005)
Interested users can get their hands on the OTA packages, factory images and the latest Android Security bulletin from Google Developers. The OTA update is currently rolling out and if you own a Pixel device, make sure you head over to Settings > Advanced > System Update to manually check for the latest security package.
Within moments of Google’s announcement, Essential has tweetedthat users of the Essential PH-1 can now grab the latest security update as well as fixes for Bluetooth Audio and accessibility. The update on the Essential phone weighs in at 81.4MB and shifts the build number of the firmware to versionPPR1.180905.036.
