Ending all strategic partnerships with eBay India, Flipkart has launched a brand-new platform to exclusively sell refurbished products and has named it 2GUD. The independent e-commerce site will be selling laptops, smartphones and other electronic goods like any other e-tailer but this time around, the site will only list certified refurbished goods at affordable prices.
The move comes after the company completed being acquired by American brand Walmart in hopes of gaining a larger user base which is already registered at 100 million active users. 2GUD, although will be working as a separate platform will work on adding more customers to Flipkart, which will only sell brand new products.
During the launch, 2GUD will operate on selling factory refurbished smartphones, laptops, smart watches, tablets and streaming devices with other electronic devices expected to be thrown into the mix. Flipkart says 2GUD will soon boast of 400 product categories ranging from speakers, power banks, TVs, smart assistants and more.
The unused and returned products available at 2GUD will first be restored to its full functionality before it’s listed on the portal. Users will be provided with a warranty period ranging from 3 to 12 months post purchase and will be services across several partner service centres in the country. Flipkart says that prices of the products will depend upon its condition and will range from 50-80 percent of the original value of the item.
At the time of this writing, 2GUD can only be accessed from mobile browsers but the company has promised a full-fledged desktop client as well as a mobile App will soon be released. There are four different categories to choose from – Unboxed like new, Refurbished superb, Refurbished very good, refurbished good, refurbished okay.
