State-run operator BSNL has announced a new annual plan for prepaid customers in the country. Prepaid users purchasing the latest BSNL 1097 annual plan will be able to get a total of 25GB data to be used for a validity of 365 days. BSNL hasn’t mentioned any post-data FUP speed on the plan which could mean 25GB is all there is to the Rs 1097 prepaid plan. Since BSNL hasn’t yet set up its services in the country yet, the 25GB of data that will be provided throughout the 365 days will be available in speeds or in some rural areas, 2G.

In addition to 25GB of data, users will be offered unlimited voice calling for a whole year with no capping limit. However, these voice calls can only be made to numbers in Delhi and Mumbai regions. The BSNL Rs 1097 plan is currently available in Kolkata circle and can be purchased till January 6, 2019.

BSNL’s Rs 1097 prepaid annual plan comes as a move to rival Reliance Jio’s recently released long-term Rs 1,699 prepaid pack. Jio’s annual plan offers 547GB of data and it comes with a validity of 365 days. This means users will get 1.5GB of data per day. The pack also offers unlimited voice calls on local, STD and national without any FUP limit along with 100 per day.
