Sonos Move 2 Speaker announced with better Battery and Wi-Fi 6 support: Check details
The Sonos Move 2 is an upgraded version of the first-generation Move speaker. It offers better sound quality, longer battery life, and improved features such as a dedicated volume slider, as well as a new Olive colour option.
Sonos Move 2 will sell in the US, UK, and other markets on September 20 for $449, a $50 increase from the first-gen Move's selling price. A launch in India, China, and Japan will follow.
The Move 2 has dual tweeters, a mid-range woofer, and individual class-D amplifiers for each driver, improving stereo sound.
The speaker is designed for indoor and outdoor use, with a removable battery and wireless charging stand bundled. It is also IP65-rated for water and dust resistance.
The first Move speaker from Sonos was released in 2019, and it came equipped with the features and sound quality to compete with the best Bluetooth speakers on the market.
The hardware had flaws, like the limited possibility for outdoor use due to the brief playtime per charge.
Since it had been a while, an update was long overdue. The Sonos Move 2 is now available, and the company, at least on paper, has improved the product significantly over the first iteration.
The new Sonos Move 2 has two tweeters and a mid-range woofer that handles the low-frequency bass output, which is one more speaker driver than the original.
Sonos claims that the additional tweeter helps the Move 2 deliver better stereo sound than the original model, and each driver receives its class-D amplifier.
The new speaker has a 44Wh battery, offering 24 hours of playback time on one charge. It's an upgrade from the previous model's 11-hour battery life. The battery is also removable for easy replacement.
The Move 2 has a wireless charging stand for indoor use, so it's always fully charged and ready to step out with you. However, the 6.61lb weight should feel light when you go outdoors.
The Move 2 speaker has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and Apple AirPlay 2 support. It also has far-field microphones calibrating sound output every 60 seconds for optimal quality. Compatible with voice assistants.
Despite being a stereo speaker, the Move 2 can be used in pairs for even better stereo separation and loudness, which enlivens the room.
Unlike the original Move, which came in Black or White, the new Move 2 comes with a matte finish and a new Olive colour option we saw in leaks that would blend with a backyard garden.
