Though the tablet segment has slowed down in recent times but it still sees a lot of new launches. For instance, India’s one of the biggest retailers – Flipkart – has just entered the tablet market with its own tablet. Noted PC makers – HP, Dell, and Asus too have launched their latest budget tablets recently. Meanwhile, Samsung and Apple have reduced the prices of their tablets recently to attract new buyers.
In view of the slew of launches, we have revisited the sub-Rs 10,000 tablet segment. Note that the tablets listed here are kept in a random manner.
Once launched for Rs 16,490, this tablet is now available for less than Rs 10,000.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo comes with a 7 inch display with 1024×600 pixels resolution. It is armed with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and 1 GB RAM. It has 8 GB internal storage and 32 GB micro SD card slot. Both the devices will be available in India towards the end of this month.
The Galaxy Tab 3 Neo has only a 2 megapixel rear camera. It has a 3600 mAh battery.For connectivity, the tablet comes with WiFi, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and USB 2.0. It has GPS and GLONASS for navigation as well. The tablet measures 116.4 x 193.4 x 9.7mm and weighs 310 grams.

Digiflip Pro XT 712
We recently reviewed this tablet which is available for Rs 9,999 from Flipkart only.
In terms of specifications, this 9.2 mm thick tablet weighs 285 grams with its metal body. The Digiflip Pro XT 712 has a 7 inch IPS display with HD resolution. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. For storage, it has 16 GB Internal Memory and an expandable storage slot that can accommodate a micro SD card of up to 32 GB. The tablet is currently based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
The tablet comes with two SIM slots offering 3G connectivity as well as voice calling. Besides, it has WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity. It sports a 5 megapixel camera and an LED flash in the rear while a 2 megapixel camera is in its front. The rear camera can capture full HD videos. The tablet is powered by a 3000 mAh battery that claims to offer 8 hours of talktime and 168 hours of standby. It comes with USB OTG support and GPS for navigation as well.
Asus has several tablets with the model name Fonepad 7 so don’t get confused; the latest model is being sold with the name- Asus Fonepad 7 (2014). Asus is selling the Fonepad 7 in Black, White, Red and Blue colour options.
Asus Fonepad 7 (2014) offers a 7-inch display comprising of TN Panel with 1024×600 pixel resolution. Asus has powered it with dual-core 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2520 “Clover Trail” mobile Chipset and 1 GB RAM. The tablet offers 8 GB on-board storage and can hold up to a 64 GB micro SD card.
The Fonepad 7 has a 2 megapixel auto focus camera and in its front lies a 0.3 megapixel camera. Besides, it has Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, G-Sensor and GPS support. Asus has made the Fonepad 7 in Dual-SIM configuration including one for a 3G network SIM card. The Fonepad 7 tablet also supports voice calling.
Asus Fonepad 7 has a 3950 mAh battery and the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

HP has recently launched this tablet. As is obvious, it has 7 inch LCD capacitive touchscrenn with 1024×600 pixels resolution. It has a 1 GHz quad core processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 1 GB RAM.

The tablet has a 3000 mAh battery which is definitely on the lower side for a tablet. It does not have SIM calling facility either and for internet, you have to use its WiFi. As usual, it has 3.5 mm jack and a Micro USB port.
Available for around Rs 9,500, the Dell Venue 7 is one of the most powerful tablets in the segment. It comes with a 7 inch capacitive IPS display with 1280×800 pixels resolution (HD). Its 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor and 2 GB DDR2 RAM offers enough processing capability for multitasking and high end games.
The Dell Venue 7 has 16 GB internal storage apart from a micro SD card slot that can accommodate a card of up to 32 GB. Besides, it has 3 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera.
However, it has the older Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. Also, it comes with a 4100 mAh battery which may not be enough for a heavy user. This tablet doesn’t have a SIM slot and for internet, you need to use its WiFi feature. There Bluetooth 4.0, a micro USB 2.0 port, and a 3.5 jack in the Venue 7.
