Nokia, India’s leading mobile phone seller, did come out with its Android operating system based smartphone – Nokia X. But the series received mixed response from both buyers and experts. So if you are not one of the fans of Nokia X, here are few alternatives which too are available for less than Rs 10,000 as the Nokia handset.
Note that the phones were selected here on the basis of their features and their real life operation may be a bit different. In our last installment of “Top 5 Android Smartphones Under Rs 10,000” earlier in February this year, we had selected Lenovo A706, Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus, Spice Pinnacle FHD, Micromax Canvas 2 Plus, and the Xolo Q X Edition.
Since then there were few newcomers in the price segment while few older mid-range devices too have got a price cut. Read on to find out the best handsets in this price range. Also note that the listing is random and does not indicate their ranking per se.
It was launched in February this year for Rs 10,999 but now is available online for best price of Rs 9,999, though most e-retailers offer it for Rs 10,500. But this handset has everything that makes it one of the biggest contender in the sub-Rs 10,000 Android smartphone segment.
For instance, it comes with a 5-inch display is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 based mobile Chipset clocked at 1.3 GHz. This mobile chipset also integrates Mali 400MP GPU for decent graphics support. Gionee has paired this mobile chipset with 1 GB RAM which makes it a decent budget level configuration – at least on the paper. Also, it has a good looking 8 Megapixel rear camera, an LED flash and a 2 megapixel front camera.
However, its display has only 854×480 pixel resolution. Like most of its competitors, it too has 4 GB on-board storage and 32 GB micro SD card slot.
Its USP is its big battery; its massive 4200 mAh battery claims to offer 31.5 hours of talktime which undoubtedly makes it one of the best phone in terms of battery life under Rs 10,000. Besides, the Gionee M2 comes with Dual-Band 3G network in one of the SIM slots and WiFi.

However, the Canvas 2 Plus is powered by a 1.2 GHz Mediatek MT6589M quad-core Processor and PowerVR SGX544 graphics Chip. Micromax has added 1 GB RAM to make the device run the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update smoothly.
The smartphone comes packed with 4 GB on-board storage and a 32 GB micro SD card slot.
