With this, Tecno is all set to strengthen its position in the budget segment. The smartphone comes with a trendy design language along with some decent specifications and affordable price tag. However, can it be a popular phone in this price segment? We got the chance to spent some time with the device and this is what we think of it.
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the Tecno Spark Go comes with a plastic finish at the back panel. However, it still features a stylish look, all thanks to the gradient finish at the rear. You get black tone at the base, while at the top, there is a blue tone. The smartphone does not look cheap at any angle with its build quality, which is a nice thing as most of the phones at this price range comes with a not-so-great design language.
Talking about ports placements, the front features a waterdrop notch with some noticeable bezels around the edges. The right side is equipped with volume controls and power on/off button. The base of the phone is loaded with a 3.5mm Audio Jack and Micro USB port, while the top and left panel are blank. The rear panel is removable and you will find removable battery along with two SIM slots and a dedicated microSD card slot. That said, the smartphone is quite comfortable to hold, though some might find it a bit heavy in nature.
Coming to the display, the Tecno Spark Go features a 6.1-inch HD+ Dot Notch display with a screen Resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels. The phone comes with a 85 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The display is quite decent considering the price range and viewing angles are good as well. However, don’t expect it to sport some out-of-the-box screen as it is just an entry-level device.
Hardware and Software
On the hardware front, the Tecno Spark Go is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core Processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The smartphone is backed by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card slot. That said, the Chipset can deliver some good day-to-day performance, though one should not expect it deliver some heavy-duty output. As for the competition is concerned, the phone will have a tough time competing with the likes of Redmi 7A, Realme C2, Coolpad Cool 3, Infinix Smart 2 and more.
On the software front, the Tecno Spark Go runs on HiOS 5.0, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. The user interface is similar to what we have seen in Tecno and Infinix smartphones. You get App drawer support and the apps are aligned alphabetical order. You also get a quick access tool that features shortcuts to different applications. We will talk more about this in our upcoming review.
Camera
On the camera front, the Tecno Spark Go is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The camera is equipped with different modes including Video, AI CAM, Beauty, Bokeh, AR Shot and Panorama. The camera performance seems to be pretty decent in the daylight scenario as the photos were close to the source and the image quality was decent. The selfie performance also seems to be decent in daylight.
Battery and Connectivity
The device packs a 3000mAh battery and considering the low-resolution display and power-efficient processor, it is safe to say that the battery should ideally last one full day under normal usage. However, we are yet to test out the overall performance of the battery. On the connectivity front, they support 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Dual-SIM and micro USB port.
