Micromax had almost gone into hibernation for last six months. Rumours were all is not well in the company and they have run out of ideas, as a result, they were not coming out with anything new. So what did the Indian handset giant do to address all the loose talk, they today launched their latest smartphone Micromax Dual 5 for Rs 24,999 and hope it will do the talking for them.
In you want to know the actual reason behind the long absence of Micromax from the smartphone arena read our interview with Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder, Micromax.

Look and feel:
Micromax Dual 5, look like most of the smartphones available in the market nowadays but once you lift it your hand perception will change. It is light in your hand and you will start admiring curves and dual tone colour of the metal body at the corners and edges. It looks neat and clean. If talk about the placement of different elements, it doesn’t have a removable back panel and all the slots – dual SIM and Micro SD card are in the side panel. In the back panel, you will find two 13 megapixel cameras along with dual LED flash lights and fingerprint sensor. As far as the front panel is concerned, apart from the display, you have 13-megapixel camera along with a soft flash.
Camera
The X factor of Dual 5 is its 13-megapixel dual rear camera setup which captures the scene simultaneously. One camera has a traditional RGB sensor which takes colour photos and the other one captures pictures in in black and white. This combination helps is capturing details of the picture without affecting colour reproduction.
I did check out the camera in different scenarios and it wouldn’t be wrong to say it is the Best Camera in Smartphone that Micromax has come out with its journey so far. Pictures in good lighting condition, as well as low lighting, had an amazing level of clarity and colour reproduction, except for few shots that were taken in low light noise was not visible.

Performance
It is too early to comment on the performance of the device but having said that in the last three days I didn’t encounter any issue with the Dual 5 related to response to touch, multitasking or browsing the internet. Eventhe display was quite bright and viewing at different angels was not a problem. Here I would like to mention we have still not tested the voice quality and gaming capability of the device.
Security:
Finally, an Indian handset player seems to be taking the security of the data stored in a device seriously. Unlike most of the smartphones available in the market where security is at the software level, which can be hacked, Dual 5 boasts of a dedicated hardware security along with the software security features, which the company claims make dual 5 un-hackable.
So what exactly have Micromax done this Dual 5? Usually, fingerprint Password imaging and other passwords are stored at a software level but in Dual 5 all the user credentials and security passwords are encrypted and saved in the dedicated security hardware chip.
It has an independent high-grade security chip, which offers hardware-level security. As per the company, it is military grade and unbreakable. It has passed the CC EAL5 + security certification, which is the highest standards of ordinary civilian security level certification.
The phone also comes with a safe switch, ensuring that no one else can unlock your phone or shut it down without a password. In fact, any attempt to pull out the SIM card would lock the phone capturing the picture of the suspected intruder.
