Cons

Screen isn't scratch proofDisplay brightness not enough for sunny outdoors

InFocus M370 is all set to be launched in India on October 1 for Rs 5,999. However, we got the device ahead of its launch. It has a 5 inch display. The phone also offers a quad core processor, 1 RAM, 8 GB of built in memory, 32 GB micro SD card slot, the latest Lollipop operating system, 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, and a removable 2230 battery.

The handset has two card slot (second slot can either hold the micro SD card or a nano SIM). Most importantly it offers 4G-LTE connectivity apart from WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS with and GLONASS. The phone also offers Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, and E-compass.

Here is a detailed account of InFocus M370’s performance in day to day usages.

Design

InFocus M370 is a cute little smartphone. It has a totally different look than any other smartphone available in India. To start with it has a black and white colour combination which looks really classy. The back panel has got an altogether different kind of pattern design which again is quite fancy and feels great in hand.

The phone has a plastic body but due to rubberised finishing, it doesn’t look cheap. On top of that the phone is quite light and compact.

Performance

InFocus M370

The InFocus M370 has a 5 inch display which comes with high definition (1280×720 pixels) resolution, and is thus manages to create sharper pictures. It has good touch response as well. However, the screen has no anti-scratch coating and is quite prone to scratches. Also, the display’s brightness is bit on the lower side for outdoors.

The handset is quite powerful too owing to its quad core processor, latest Android 5.1.1 operating system and 1 GB RAM. It managed to play games like Minion Rush, Dino Hunter, and GT Racing 2 with ease. Just once while playing GT Racing 2 I felt it was lagging a bit. But what more can you ask from such a budget phone.

For storage also, the phone is like most of its competitors – it has 8 GB of inbuilt memory and a 32 GB micro SD card slot as well.

The InFocus M370 has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.9 megapixel front camera. In good lighting, both the cameras able to produce decent pictures. The rear camera especially quite good in capturing colours and sharp images. In low light though its performance goes down a bit. Below are few pictures which will give you an idea about its camera capabilities.

The handset has two SIM card slots but the second slot has dual purpose – it can either hold the second SIM or a micro SD card. So if you want to have a second SIM, forget the expandable storage and vice versa.

However, the InFocus M370 offers connectivity along with the usual WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB port, 3.5 mm and FM radio.

The handset has a 2230 mAh removable battery and it offers good back up. For instance, with full brightness and volume and WiFi connectivity it consumed 32 per cent charge in playing a 1.5 hour full HD film. And with full brightness and WiFi, it consumes about 10 per cent charge in playing the GR Racing 2 for 15 minutes.

During regular usage, I used to get more than 12 hours of back up with medium usage.

Verdict

At Rs 5,999, the InFocus M370 isn't the cheapest 4G phone – devices with similar package available for lesser price too like the Yu Yunique. Also though it offers appreciable performance in all departments but do keep its cons in mind, which are mentioned above, while buying it.
