Infinix has today announced the launch of its latest budget-centric smartphone, the Smart 3 Plus in India. The phone comes with a price tag of Rs 6,999 and it will be available for purchase from Flipkart starting from April 30.
Infinix is offering a host of interesting featuresin the device and the main USP of the phone is the triple-camera setup at the back. This coupled with glossy finish and dependable hardware, Infinix is trying to attarct budget smartphone buyers with this lauch. However, this time the competition is going to be tough as Realme launching its budget-centric phone C2, while we have a strong lineup of Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 phones from Xiaomi. Here we present you the first impressions of the latest Infinix Smart 3 Plus and how it competes with the rest of the devices.
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus is equipped with a glossy finish at the back, which disguises as glass, but it is plastic. The mirror finish at the back panel delivers some premium look considering its price point. It is safe to say that the phone offers a modest design when compared to the likes of Redmi 6 and other phones, which features a standard design.
Talking about ports placement, the phone features a large display at the front and there is a waterdrop notch as well. The right side of the phone features volume controls and power on/off button, while the left is equipped with a SIM slot that houses dual-SIM and microSD card slot.
The base of the phone is loaded with a Micro USB port flanked between a speaker grille and a 3.5mm audio jack. The back panel is equipped with a vertically-aligned triple-camera setup and there is a flash as well. One can also find the fingerprint sensor at the back, which is quite easy to reach in our opinion. That said, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus is a good-looking smartphone, which is lightweight and quite comfortable to hold in your hand.
Coming to the display, Infinix Smart 3 Plus is equipped with a 6.21-inch HD+ display with a screen Resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. The display is bright enough, all thanks to the 500 nits brightness. The screen offers some decent viewing angles and for this price, it surely looks interesting.
Hardware and Software
On the hardware front, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 Processor clocked 2.0GHz along with IMG PowerVR GPU. It is backed by a 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card slot. The company has also added a fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature as well. In our initial testing, we found out that the fingerprint sensor is fast to unlock the phone and the face unlock features does a modest job. The performance is yet to be tested on this smartphone, so we suggest you stay tuned with us.
Coming to the software, the phone runs on XOS 5.0, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. The user interface comes loaded with some good features. For example, when you swipe left to right, you will see a landing page where you can get all the information right from the favourite apps, recent contacts to booking a cab on OLA and more.
The company has added an App drawer feature, which is quite useful. Another feature here is the Smart Panel, which basically looks like a spinoff of Samsung’s EDGE menu. The brand has added a shortcut panel from where you can access apps or different shortcuts like screen capture and more. We will talk more about this in our upcoming review.
Camera
The major highlight of the Infinix Smart 3 Plus is the inclusion of triple-camera setup at the back panel. The phone is equipped with a 13-megapixel primary lens with f/1.8 Aperture along with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor coupled with a low light sensor. For the front, it is equipped with an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.
Starting with the camera UI first, you get different modes like Video, AI CAM, Beauty, Bokeh and AR Shot. We took a couple of shots under broad daylight condition and the results were quite good in our opinion. The phone was able to capture some decent shots under the broad daylight and the macro came out to be good as well. The selfie performance was average in low light condition. However, we are yet to test the camera in different lighting condition, so we will reserve our judgement here.
Battery and Connectivity
On the battery front, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus is loaded with a 3500mAh battery. Considering the low-resolution display coupled with power efficient hardware, the phone should comfortably last one full day of usage. On the connectivity front, it features dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, dual-SIM, GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm Audio Jack and micro USB port. The phone measures 157 x 76 x 7.8mm and weighs 148 grams.
