1Camera
The cameras present on the new Redmi Note 7 Pro are quite capable in nature. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is a first from the company to feature a 48-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. The phone delivered some crisp shots when the lighting condition was ideal and the macro shots came out to be well-detailed. The phone performed fairly well in the low-light department as well, making a good-camera centric smartphone at this price range. The Good!
2Performance
Xiaomi has been always known for providing some top-of-the-line specifications on its range of smartphone and it has done the same thing with this phone. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 Processor along with Adreno 612 GPU. The phone is available in two memory options: 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage. In our testing, we found out that the phone delivered some really good performance in day-to-day usage as it quite smooth and we didn’t encountered any lag or shutter during our review period. The phone is able handle most of the gaming titles, whether be it casual or graphic-intense. The Good!
3Smudges are quite prominent
Although the design language of the Redmi Note 7 Pro is quite good, but it is not exempted from the smudges. The back and front panel attract quite a lot of smudges. The camera bump is also biggest we have seen in this price Band and we noticed that a lot of dust particles were settled around the camera module, which kind of spoils the mood. So, a protective is a must with this device. The Bad!
4Design
Xiaomi has finally adopted to a newer design trend with its Redmi Note 7 Pro. The phone comes loaded with a glossy finish at the back, which gives a premium look and it is quite different from other Xiaomi smartphones present in the country. The Dot Notch, which is Xiaomi’s iteration of waterdrop notch helps the brand to give a stiff competition to its rival. The phone is quite comfortable to hold in your hand and it is certainly a head turner. The Good!
5Overheating Issue
Lastly, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is prone to overheating issue, which is quite prominent in nature. This is particularly noticeable when you are playing high-end games like PUBG Mobile. During our prolonged gaming session, we found that the phone’s temperature raised to such alarming levels that we need to put down for sometime so that it can cool down. We also noticed that the area around fingerprint sensor was heated up strongly. Overall, this is not a good thing for a such a good smartphone like this one. The Ugly!
6Bloatware in UI
The Redmi Note 7 Pro runs on MIUI 10, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. The one major problem with the user interface is the amount of bloatware you get. There are company’s own apps like Mi Browser, Mi Community, Mi Pay, Mi Store, Clear, Music, Mi Drop, Mi Video among others. Then there are third-party apps like Facebook, Amazon, ShareChat, Dailyhunt, Amazon Shopping, Opera news, Newspoint and more. Although, you can delete third-party apps, but there is no way to delete the company’s own App suite. The Bad!
7Pesky advertisement
It is true that MIUI 10 is plagued with advertisement. You will find it in almost every company’s owned applications like Mi Browser, Mi Music, Mi Cleaner, Mi Video, MIUI Security. Then there is a folder by the name More Apps that promotes sponsored applications. Apart from this, we noticed that Xiaomi has also placed ads even when the apps asks for permission or when you install the app from a different source. The Ugly!
