Samsung Galaxy M30: Good, Bad and Ugly

The user interface from Samsung comes loaded with some good features, but it comes loaded with lots of spam and bloatware. Talking to the bloatware first, there are lots of third-party applications like Microsoft Office, Linkedin along with company’s own suite of application.

The first App that creates a lot of spam is My Galaxy application. In our testing, we found out that the app spammed us with lots of notifications and there is no way to disable this feature. At the end of the day, one has to disable the application to stop getting these spammy notifications.

Another spam we noticed was in the Locked Screen stories. The stories were more of clickbait articles rather than some useful information. Thankfully, you have an option to disable this by selecting Wallpaper and not Wallpaper & Stories, when you change an image for the lock screen.

Another area where the Samsung Galaxy M30 excels is the battery performance. The phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery and the company has also bundled a fast charger with this one.

Coming to the battery output, the phone lasted comfortably almost two days under normal usage that includes regular checking for emails, browsing the web, streaming some music and more. Under power usage, the phone gave almost a day’s battery backup. Coming to charging time, Galaxy M30 was able to fully charged in almost 2 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy M30 features a triple-camera setup, which comes with a combination of 13MP primary lens, a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP Wide-Angle lens. The phone’s performance came out to be pretty satisfactory during our review period.

The phone was able to take some interesting shots and the detailing was on point. The colours were quite close to the source and it was able to take some decent macro shots as well.

The Samsung Galaxy M30 comes loaded with Infinity-U display, which is basically Samsung’s iteration of waterdrop notch. The phone is equipped with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Infinity-U sAMOLED display with a screen Resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.

The smartphone has an advantage as compared to its rival with the AMOLED screen, which delivers better colour outputs along with deep blacks and decent viewing angles. Whether be it watching any content on Netflix or any other platform, you will certain enjoy the whole viewing experience.

Although the daylight performance of the Samsung Galaxy M30 is great, the same cannot be said for the low light conditions. In our testing, we found out that the phone’s performance was average as we could see noticeable amount of grains and noises in the photos.

Furthermore, the Live Focus mode also came with some hit and misses. At times it was able to bokeh effect that looks natural with background blurring and the subject being highlighted, but in most of the cases, we could see blurring effect at the edges of the subject, which spoils the image.

Coming to the performance, it was a mixed bag in our opinion. The phone was able to handle basic tasks effectively, though when it comes to heavy multitasking like opening up 10 to 15 apps and then switching between each, we faced some shutter or lag. The gaming performance was also quite average.

The Samsung Galaxy M30 delivered some good results in casual gaming, though when it comes to the high-end gaming experience, we encountered lags and frame drops. Furthermore, we noticed that the device heated up during the gaming session, but it was not at that alarming level.
