ZTE, has announced that this year they will launch five smartphones in the Indian market priced between Rs 5,799 and Rs 14,999 and will also launch few tablets after that.
For its India open market handset foray ZTE has partnered with Pune based Calyx Telecommunications, for sales, services and distribution. ZTE has been selling handsets in India through operators specially the CDMA players like RCom, Tata and MTS it has also sold some phones under Idea Cellular branding in India. Idea Blade made by ZTE and also sold as Dell XCD35 was a popular handset in India.
Xu Dejun, chief executive officer of ZTE India said, “We want the mobile phone business to contribute to 10 per cent of our overall revenues in”.
Gaurav Somani, executive director, Calyx Telecommunications said “We are broadening our distribution network with ZTE’s smartphone and tablet portfolio initially focusing on five states, of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. We are targeting 60 cities and towns through over 7000 touch points. ZTE products will be available in all major states by the end of October 2013”.
