ZTE, a Chinese handset vendor, has launched two open market (non bundled) data cards in India, priced at Rs 1,799 and Rs 2,250. Company has announced plans to launch more open market data cards in India.
Yuan Kang, director terminals business, ZTE India said, “We are excited to enter the Indian open market with our first two products and we hope to introduce more devices in the future. India is an important market for ZTE and this is our first step to enter the open market and cater to the needs of the masses with ZTE’s innovative products.â€
The more expensive one offers up to 14.4 Mbps download speed and can create WiFi hotspots. The other data card offers speeds up to 7.2 Mbps download speed. Both Data cards can connect to USB port of a tablet and laptop. The data card with 14.4 Mbps download speed has an option to connect with a USB charger and the connection can be shared via WiFi with up to five devices.
ZTE has been selling its data cards to mobile operators who then rebrand it and sell it in the market. However this is the first time that they are introducing open market data cards in India which will allow people to use them with any operator’s SIM card.
ZTE has partnered with Flipkart.com for its online sales which will initially sell the 14.4 Mbps speed based data card whereas the data card with 7.2 Mbps download speed will be available through both, channel partner (physical retail stores) and online stores.
