Xiaomi unveils Mi Charge Turbo 30W wireless charging, will debut with Mi 9 Pro 5G

Xiaomi's Mi Charge Turbo technology will debut with the launch of the Mi 9 Pro 5G smartphone later this month.

As expected, Xiaomi has announced the Mi Charge Turbo technology at an event in China. The new Mi Charge Turbo technology will be able to deliver 30-watt wireless charging to smartphones and will debut with the Mi 9 Pro smartphone later in September.

The news comes through Xiaomi’s official Weibo account which announced the Mi Charge Turbo 30W wireless charging technology. Xiaomi says the Mi Charge Turbo has been developed using a 4:1 direct charging architecture and a two-stage charge pump for lesser heat generation and faster charging.

The latest wireless charging solution will be able to juice up a smartphone at 30 watts, a faster solution that Xiaomi’s current 27-watt SonicCharge Superfast technology which is based on a wired connection. The company says the latest technology will be able to charge a 4,000mAh smartphone battery wirelessly from 0-50 percent in 25 minutes and 0-100 percent in 69 minutes.

The Mi Charge Turbo charge tech will also support fast reverse wireless charging. Xiaomi says future smartphones with Mi Charge Turbo support will be able to charge others phones, accessories, earphones and wearables wirelessly. The company claims that the technology will be able to charge an iPhone XS to up to 20 percent in 30 minutes.

Besides that, Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Mi Charge Turbo charge tech will first debut with the Mi 9 Pro 5G smartphone which is expected to debut later this month in China.

The company has also disclosed that its 40W super wireless flash charging is now being tested. The next-generation 40W charging solution can be expected to debut with the Mi Mix 4 smartphone.
