Chinese smartphone company, Xiaomi has today released a new poster on its official Weibo (microblogging website) handle. The teaser carries a multicoloured “S” alphabet which has left everyone wondering whether Xiaomi is planning to unveil the much in leaked Xiaomi Redmi S2 smartphone or its upcoming in-house Surge S1 Chipset successor- Surge S2.
Other than letter “S”, the post on Weibo has not revealed any information. As per reports, the image teaser is most likely for the Redmi S2 smartphone.
Recently, Redmi S2’s pictures and videos were surfaced in the Czech Republic, which confirmed several features of the phone. The Redmi S2 is said to be coming with a 5.99-inch display featuring HD+ Resolution and two rear cameras including a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary 5-megapixel sensor.
Besides, it is expected to have the MIUI 9 user interface based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well.
As per earlier reports, the S2 is said to be coming in 2GB, 3GB and 4GB RAM versions – all with a 2.0 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor. A 3000 mAh battery is expected in the phone which is granted to come with 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS and a Micro USB port like most Android phones.
The Redmi S2 now said to be coming with a 5.99-inch display featuring HD+ resolution and two rear cameras including a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary 5-megapixel sensor.
On the other hand, as per earlier reports, Xiaomi Surge S2 will have four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and the other four ARM Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. The SoC is coupled with Mali G71 MP8 GPU for improved power efficiency which is a significant upgrade over the Mali-T860MP4 GPU found in the Surge S1. Other rumoured features of Surge S2 are UFS 2.1 storage and LPDDR4 RAM. However, the new chipset may not have support for CDMA networks.
