Chinese handset maker, Xiaomi has sold 110 million Redmi phones globally since August 2013, according to Hugo Barra. This means that Xiaomi has sold 1.21 phones every second for the last three years.
Hugo Barra, vice president -Xiaomi Global, revealed this on his Twitter account as his company is getting ready to launch its latest Redmi smartphone, the Redmi Pro.
“Xiaomi has sold 110 million Redmi phones globally since our first Redmi phone launched in Aug 2013. That’s 1.21 units per second in 3 years!,” Hugo Barra wrote on his Twitter feed.
Xiaomi has certainly a dream run so far. In the very competitive smartphone market, it has certainly tasted a lot of success so far and especially in India, it is one of the few Chinese companies to have got a lot of goodwill.
As per a recent research of Gartner, Xiaomi has 4.3 percent market share of global smartphone market.
However, IDC in its report issued in April warned: “These new vendors would be well-advised not to rest on their laurels though, as this dynamic smartphone landscape has shown to even cult brands like Xiaomi that customer loyalty is difficult to consistently maintain.”
With smartphone market declining worldover, Xiaomi has to continuously up its game to survive and grow.
