Xiaomi recently announced the launch of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in India. At the launch time, the company promised thatRedmi Note 5 Pro will receive an over the air (OTA) update by the end of March whichwouldbring the face unlock feature to the smartphone. Now much ahead of its scheduled time, Xiaomi has rolled out the Face unlock feature for the phone via an OTA update for the device. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone in India to get this Face unlock feature.

As per his tweet, the OTA update to MIUI v9.2.4 is available for the Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone. For those who bought the phone in yesterday’s sale, they will get this feature right away. The MIUI v9.2.4 NEIMIEK update is 1.6GB in size. Apart from Face Unlock feature, this update also comes withsignificant camera improvements and stability optimizations.

Meanwhile, over 3 lakh units of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro units were sold out in yesterday’s sale in under 3 minutes. Manu Jain, Group Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi India has confirmed this on his twitter handle. The Mi TV 4 was also sold out in less than 10 seconds on Flipkart and Mi.com. The next Mi TV 4 sale is scheduled for 27 February while the sale of both the smartphones will be held on 28 February.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is priced at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM option, while the 6GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 16,999. To recap the specifications of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, it features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a screen Resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, a colour contrast ratio of 1500:1 and 450-nits brightness.
The smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Processor along with Adreno 509 GPU. The smartphone is backed by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while there is another variant that comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage option.
The phone is backed by a dual-camera setup, making it first smartphone under Redmi series to feature dual rear cameras. The phone features 12-megapixel primary lens with 1.25-micron pixel and f/2.2 Aperture along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with 1.12-micron pixel and f/2.0 aperture. For the front, there is a 20-megapixel camera with Sony IMX376 sensor, LED flash and Beautify 4.0.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is backed by a 4000mah battery and it runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. On the connectivity front, the phone features 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, dual-SIM, and Micro USB port.
