Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 alleged specifications, expected price and release date leaked

The smartphone has reportedly passed the FCC certification in the US as well.

Earlier in the day, we have reported that the Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in India on January 19. Though the company is gearing up for the India launch, rumours about its successor, the Redmi Note 5, are taking the internet by storm.

According to a website named ‘theleaker’ claims that a new Xiaomi Dual SIM smartphone has passed the FCC certification in the US, which is none other than the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 smartphone. The website also posted the alleged specifications, expected price and the release date of the device as well.

As per the website, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 said to feature a 5.5 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is expected to be powered by 2.0GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor or either 2.1GHz Deca-Core MediaTek Helio x25 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The phone will also have the option to expand the storage of up to 128GB via micro SD card. The device will run on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top of it and the smartphone will be backed up by a 4000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The Redmi Note 5 is also said to house a fingerprint scanner as well.

On the camera front, the smartphone is expected to offer 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video calling. Besides, the Redmi Note 5 will offer Dual SIM, VoLTE, Type C, WiFi and GPS.

Further, as per the website, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to see the light of day by the second half of 2017 and China will be the first market to get the feel of new Redmi Note 5, followed by the launch in rest of the Asian countries. The phone is also expected to be launched in the United States (due to its FCC certification in the US), the United Kingdom, and other European countries.

As far the India pricing is concerned, the smartphone is expected to be priced at Rs 10,999 for 32GB variant, whereas the 64GB will cost Rs 12,999.
