Xiaomi Redmi 5A receives MIUI 10 build based on Android 8.1 Oreo

The new update is currently rolling out the to random users and it brings Android 8.1 Oreo to the table.

After recently rolling out the MIUI 10 Stable ROM update for its older, Redmi 3S/3S Prime and Redmi 4 smartphones, Xiaomi has now rolled out the new MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for Redmi 5A.

The new update is currently rolling out the to random users and it brings 8.1 Oreo to the table. Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 10 V10.1.2.0.OCKMIFI update and it weighs around 1.3 GB in size. The company has also updated the Android security patch as well and now it runs on November 2018 security patch.

The update is rolling out via OTA. In order to check for the latest update, users can go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for updates. If you haven’t received the update on your device, you can download the Recovery ROM here and flash it using the recovery method.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5A in November last year as the Desh Ka Smartphone. TheXiaomi Redmi 5A features 5-inch HD display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. It comes with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. The Redmi 5A has a 3,000 mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies with f/2.0 lens.
