Xiaomi has finally launched the latest Redmi 5 smartphone in India. The smartphone follows the latest display trend of 18:9 and it comes with a price tag of Rs 7,999 for the 2GB RAM and Rs 8,999 for the 3GB RAM variant. The 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage for Rs 10,999. The device will be available exclusively on Amazon Inda, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores in India starting March 20, 2018.
Xiaomi has also introduced some launch offers with the Redmi 5. To start with, Reliance Jio is also offering Rs 2,200 cashback on the latest smartphone with 100GB of additional data. Users will get 5 percent discount withSBI credits on Amazon India and Mi.com. Furthermore, users will get 90 percent discounts on Kindle eBooks.
The major highlight of the device is the latest 18:9 display. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor, along with Adreno 506 GPU. It is backed by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while there is another variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Further, there is another variant that comes loaded with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system with MIUI 9 on top of it and is backed up by a 3200mAh battery. On the camera front, Redmi 5 smartphone sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for selfies and video chats. The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner which will be placed on its back panel. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a Micro USB port. The handset measures 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7 mm and weighs 157 grams.
