Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus to launch as Redmi Note 5 in India?

Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to launch the Redmi 5 Plus as Redmi Note 5 smartphone in India soon. The latest leaks reveal that the company is planning to launch the smartphone in India in February.

As per a tweet from Clinton Jeff, Product PR at Xiaomi, we might see some new announcements for the Indian market next month. A report of AndroidCentral indicates that Xiaomi might announce the Redmi 5 Plus in India as the Redmi Note 5. It is to be worth mentioning that the company has not officially announced the launch in India yet.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was launched in India in January last year and it is one of the bestselling phones from the company. So Xiaomi fans in India are now waiting for the launch of Redmi Note 5 smartphone.

To recall, the company introduced the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China in December last year.In China, the Redmi 5 Plus is priced at 999 Yuan (approximately Rs 9,745) for 3GB with 32GB of internal storage variant while 4GB variant with 32GB of internal storage is priced at 1299 Yuan (approximately Rs 12,675).

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus smartphone features a 5.99-inch full display with 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio, and is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 with Adreno 506 GPU. It has 3GB/4GB with 32GB/64GB internal storage which is expandable to 128GB via micro card slot. The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner which will be placed on its back panel.

On the camera front, the smartphone sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone Flash, 1.25μm pixel size. For the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 and it will be backed up by 4000 mAh battery. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), 4.2, GPS, and a port.
