After launching Mi Note 2 and the surprising Mi Mix, Xiaomi is all set to launch another device tomorrow – the Redmi 4. Xiaomi Redmi 4 has been the subject of rumours for about 2 months now. And now after the company released a teaser yesterday, Redmi 4 will probably be unveiled tomorrow i.e. 4th November 2016. Before that, Redmi 4 was in the news a couple of time and was also spotted on TENNA back in September. Here is all we know so far about this upcoming device from Xiaomi.
Specifications
Based on the previous speculation, Xiaomi Redmi 4 is expected to come with a 5-inch display with a bump up in Resolution to 1080p from 720p in Redmi 3. Notwithstanding the earlier rumours of the device housing a MediaTek processor, Redmi 4 is now expected to sport a Snapdragon processor. While some reports say that Xiaomi might surprise us with a Snapdragon 625, other reports claim that it might go with Snapdragon 430 as seen in Redmi 3S Prime. Further, like the Redmi 3, it is likely to come with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which is expected to be expandable as well. The device will be powered by the same 4000 mAh powerhouse battery. For the camera, Xiaomi Redmi 4 listed on the TENNA website features a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, along with a 5MP front camera.
Variants
The global variant will be named as Redmi 4 while a cheaper China-only variant is also expected to be launched with the name Redmi 4A. Apart from that, both the variants will be available in Gray, Silver and Gold colour variants. All the variants will run on Android 6.0 with Xiaomi’s latest version of MIUI.
Price and Availability
As is the case with every Xiaomi handset, both the variants will be first launched in China after which it will be launched in various other select markets. Redmi 4A, as mentioned before, will not be launched anywhere else.
The pricing for the Redmi 4 is expected to be on the higher side at CNY 1,300 (approx. Rs 12,800) though earlier reports suggested that the price will be somewhere around CNY 699. That might be the cheaper Redmi 4A variant now.
Redmi 3 was launched in January this year with a 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 616 Chipset along with an Adreno 405 GPU. It sports a 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable to 256GB). However, skipping Redmi 3, Xiaomi launched Redmi 3S in India back in August 2016 with Snapdragon 430, 2GB/3GB RAM with 16/32GB internal storage. Redmi 3S was launched at Rs 6,999 and the 3S Prime was launched at Rs 8,999. Further, concentrating on the offline market, Redmi also launched Redmi 3S Plus in India at Rs 9,499.
