Xiaomi has launched the Mi Reader in China. The Mi Reader is priced at 579 Yuan (approx. Rs 6,000) in the crowdfunding process starting on November 20. After it, the Mi Reader price will be hiked to 599 Yuan (approx. Rs 6,100). The e-Book Reader is taking on the popular Amazon Kindle.
Xiaomi Mi Reader features a 6-inch HD e-ink display with a Pixel density of 212ppi. It supports 24 brightness presets and it brightens the display uniformly up to 90% for comfortable reading at night time. The display panel has an anti-glare technology to read even in sunlight. It comes with dual-tone design with thick white bezels and a dark rear panel.
The company has revealed that the Mi Reader is powered by a quad-core Allwinner B300 Processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with a custom skin on top.
The ebook reader is packed with a 1,800mAh battery which can be charged using a Type C port. It comes with support for multiple file formats, including TXT, EPUB, PDF, DOC, XLS and PPT among other file extensions. It measures 159.2 x 116 x 8.3mm and it weighs at 178 grams.
